aRTIST oF tHE yEAR

aOTY is an electro-rock band with a singular groove intensity. Adept at self-sampling and electronic synthesis, their compositions interweave unusual rhythms with soaring guitars and basses. A true blend of musical currents (rock, funk, disco, electro), their product is at once complex, danceable and distinct. aOTY celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. Their music, once a UFO in Quebec's musical landscape, has carved out a place for itself thanks to its uniqueness (e.g. Oh la la, musical index on the SRC program La Tête Ailleurs with Jacques Bertrand). The originality of their musical content is now the group's trademark.

Following the release of their album uP yOURS in 2012 (best electro album GAMIQ), aOTY was offered a major music composition contract for Ubisoft's video game Shape Up. This project, tailor-made for their catchy music, led them to produce an eponymous soundtrack at the same time. The Shape Up album was released alongside the game in November 2014.

Prior to the album release, the band released a single and a music video: "cRAZY gRANNY", both of which enjoyed great exposure thanks to editorial placement on Tout le Monde en Parle (SRC) and a rather comical music video. In 2015, aOTY played 21 shows: Festival de Jazz, Échofête, Festival Off-courts de Trouville (FR), Paris (FR), Bruxelles (BE), Igloofest, FME-Quartiers d'hiver. The band is made up of Camille Jacques (composition, vocals, guitar, bass, synths), David Richard (composition, guitar, bass, synths) and Louis Coutu (drums, composition).
